Joe Milton III's Struggles Against the Commanders

During the last preseason game, New England Patriots quarterback Joe Milton III performed poorly against the Washington Commanders. Milton only completed 5 out of 17 passes for 78 yards, yielding a quarterback rating of 46.2.

Milton was selected by the Patriots in the 6th round of the 2024 NFL Draft from Tennessee.

He had the opportunity to establish himself as the starter with Jacoby Brissett resting, but he failed to make the most of his opportunity and suffered issues with accuracy and decision-making in the game.

With Milton at quarterback, the Patriots' offense was anemic, not able to sustain drives or score any points. His only good play was a 42-yard pass, but besides that, he missed many throws and seemed overwhelmed by the Commanders' defense.

With two weeks left until the start of the regular season, the Patriots still have no clear direction at quarterback.

Brissett is likely to get the Week 1 start, but rookie Drake Maye has played well during the preseason and is competing for playing time.

He didn't play very well against the Commanders, so he is probably behind Brissett and Maye at this point in the pecking order. Milton needs to learn fast and improve greatly during practices to have any significant playing time in 2024.

Overall, it was a night to forget for Joe Milton III. He didn't grab his chance and only raised more questions than answers on the Patriots quarterback situation.

The team hopes he can bounce back and become a good backup or maybe a starter in the future, but his last game in the preseason against the Commanders was not a good sign.
