Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Frederick Asare backs Otto Addo as Black Stars' head coach.

Asante Kotoko's goalkeeper, Frederick Asare, has endorsed Otto Addo as head coach of the Black Stars, the Ghanaian national football team.

In an interview with Asante Kotoko Communications, Asare, who has been called up to the Black Stars twice by Addo, stated that he has gained a lot of knowledge from working with the coach.

Asare was the only member of Addo's 26-man team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers who are not from the Ghana Premier League.

The goalie complimented Addo's style of play with the ball and his capacity to give his teammates confidence even in the face of errors. "For me, I think that he is one of the best coaches Ghana can ever have, so I believe that we should trust in him and support him," Asare stated.

In the third round of qualification for the Canada and USA World Cup, the Black Stars will play Mali on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at the Stade du 26 Mars in Bamako. Four days later, they will return to Ghana to play the Central African Republic in the Baba Yara Sports Stadium fourth-round match.

Ghana defeated Madagascar 1-0 in Kumasi to begin their qualifying campaign, but they fell to Comoros by the same score in their second group match. With three points, the team is presently three points behind leaders Comoros in fourth position in Group I.
