After falling to Sri Lanka in the ICC qualification final in Abu Dhabi, Scotland will play England in the Women's T20 World Cup this autumn.

The Scots qualified for the event for the first time by making it to the final two, however, they lost by 68 runs and were unable to take home the trophy.

Due to the defeat, they are now placed in Group B for the tournament and will play the West Indies, South Africa, and Bangladesh's home nation before taking on England in Dhaka on October 14.

As a prize for winning the championship, Sri Lanka will be placed in Group A alongside Australia, New Zealand, India, and Pakistan.

Due to an injury, Scotland's captain and star player Kathryn Bryce was unable to compete with Chamari Athapaththu's game-winning performance.

The Sri Lankan innings ended at 169-5 as she blasted 102 from just 63 balls, including four sixes and thirteen fours. Rachel Slater took two wickets throughout the innings.

The Scots reply never threatened without Bryce leading the chase, eventually collapsing at 101-7 thanks to a best score of 30 from Priyanaz Chatterji.
