    Being named on the Black Stars roster is an accomplishment, Fredrick Asare.

    Fredrick Asare, the goalkeeper for Asante Kotoko, has called being selected for the Black Stars side for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic an accomplishment.

    The sole member of the Ghana Premier LeagueGhana Premier League roster included in Otto Addo's 26-man roster for the pivotal qualifications was the former goalkeeper for the Accra Lions.

    Asare was ecstatic to receive his second call-up to the senior national squad.

    "We have Ghanaian goalkeepers all over the world, including in Europe, Asia, and Africa. We have good goalkeepers here in Ghana as well," he stated in an interview broadcast on Asemapa FM.

    "But it's a good accomplishment for me and I am really happy to represent my country that a coach called me to the national team and complimented me."

    On Thursday in Bamako, Ghana will play Mali in the third round of the 2026 World Cup qualifying tournament. Four days later, in Kumasi, Ghana will play the Central African Republic.

    With three points, Ghana is now third in Group I, three points behind leaders Comoros.
